Gift Cards into MAX Cash

I really like getting gift cards! The idea that I have the option to spend money on something fun, something just for me, is exciting. When I get cash, I end up doing something reasonable with that cash, like saving it or paying for something important.

However, last month was my birthday, and I ended up getting 3 cards for stores that I either never shop at, OR the balance was too low for anything I really want. So, while I appreciate the good intentions of the gift card givers, in this case I rather have cash!

My Story of Selling Gift Cards for Cash Online

The first question that I asked myself, is do I mind getting 3 different checks? Since every gift card trading site offer a different amount of cash, I should either ship out each card to the site that is offering me the most back, or just choose the site that offers the biggest cash amount for all 3.

I ran both options using the \”get offers\” button on each of the major trading sites, and ended up deciding that I want more, even if it\’s only a couple of dollars on every card, I don\’t want to get less.

So I printed out 2 shipping slips (one site was had the best offers for 2 out of my 3 cards), and shipped these out the next day. I got my last check in the mail yesterday, and today I deposited all of them.

I\’m not sure if I will spend the cash on something I want or do the responsible thing and wait for something that I actually need. I always like going back to the person who gave me the gift card and telling them what I got and how happy I am with it, so I\’ll just have to see

What I did realize during this process, is that some cards have a much higher value in the online trading arena, in comparison to other cards. So, if you are looking to buy a card for someone that you love, and you\’re not sure he will use the card, there are some cards (like Walmart and Target gift cards), that have a much higher worth that others (like HomeDepot and Barnes & Noble gift cards).

I will summarize by saying this: I still think that gift cards are an awesome way to give presents, it\’s better for the giver because he doesn\’t actually have to wreck his brain trying to find something at the store, and it\’s better for the person getting the gift, that doesn\’t have to fake being happy with something he really doesn\’t want, need or can trade for cash.
